More about me:

I had never worked in the care sector till I joined Forrest House in January 2020. They provided training whilst I was on placement through the job centre. I chose to work in the care sector as I am a naturally caring and compassionate person, from a very young age I was a carer for my gran which gave me a deep understanding of the importance of dignity, patience, and empathy in care. That early experience shaped who I am and inspired me to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others who need support.

As a team leader in our Supported Living Team one of the things I most enjoy about my job is delivering person-centred care. I take great pride in focusing on each individuals needs and looking at ways we can improve their everyday living and support. I love to make sure the clients we support are always clean, well presented and feeling their best, because when someone looks good it often lifts their mood and helps them feel more confident and comfortable. Being part of that positive change in their day-to-day life is what makes my role so rewarding.

Outside of work I have a variety of hobbies and interests that keep me busy and happy. I enjoy going to raves and music events, I love the atmosphere and energy. A lot of my free time is spent practising hair and make-up allowing me to be creative. Shopping is definitely one of my guilty pleasures, visiting charity shops, having a good rummage, and getting a bargain. I love travelling, finding new places and exploring the beauty of Scotland. Family and friends are important to me; I regularly visit and spend time with my sister and nephews living in England. Spirituality is something I am very interested in especially learning about how it connects to everyday life.

Forrest House and Shawlands Flats feel like another family to me; there is such a strong sense of connection between the staff and clients. The relationships we have built over time are full of trust, care, and genuine affection. That is what makes working in both settings so special. Everyone supports each other and we always come together to create joyful memories, during parties, karaoke days, days out or just relaxing days in. There is always laughter, smiles and so much effort from everyone to make a real difference in our client’s lives. It is a place filled with heart, and I am proud to be a part of it.
