Forrest House

Forrest House is a small residential home originally for adults with cerebral palsy, but also available to those with other conditions requiring a high level of care and support. It is situated in the residential area of Pollokshields, close to local amenities including public transport, shops, parks and the famous 'Tramway' with its secret gardens. The house consists of the original old villa plus a purpose-built extension suitable for residents with physical and sensory impairment. Forrest House retains its original 'homely' atmosphere but with state-of-the-art fire and safety equipment and services

Our facilities include:

  • Large single rooms with en-suite shower and toilet facilities. Each room has an overhead tracking hoist which connects the bedroom and en-suite. Staff support call system in each room. External doors lead onto the garden area in the new part of the building. Phone and internet connections in each room. All rooms have been tastefully decorated with the input of each resident.
  • Bright and spacious sunroom which is used for social activities, arts and crafts etc.
  • Aromatherapy / Sensory room, this is used for relaxation and complimentary treatments such as aromatherapy and massage treatments can be accessed as and when requested. We have a treatment bed suitable for individuals with physical disabilities as well as 2 shiatsu massage chairs. This is also used as a sensory room where residents can enjoy their choice of music while relaxing surrounded with suitable sensory equipment.
  • This room also contains a Parker Bath suitable for disabled individuals. The bath can be accessed using an overhead tracking hoist and features a spa facility which all residents can enjoy and benefit from. A tastefully furnished dining room where we all share a meal together or meet up for a coffee. Our kitchen staff are very much involved with everyone on a daily basis, and menus cater for individual tastes and specialised diets.
  • All bedrooms are located off a main corridor and all doorways are suitable for wheelchair users. The design allows for extensive natural light making this space very bright and airy, which the artwork on the wall compliments. There is a fire exit at each end of the main corridor which facilitates quick evacuation in the event of an emergency.

The front gardens feature two seating areas which are easily accessed. The rear gardens provide an extensive bright space suitable for relaxing, having barbeques, entertainment or general socialising. There is a selection of raised beds with colourful flowers/plants which is a hub for a variety of local wildlife. Residents and their families enjoy using these spaces.
